You can create one of the coolest versions of Darth Maul out of LEGO bricks for less than £15, thanks to this fan-designed build.
Introduced in Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Darth Maul has become one of the most iconic modern-day Star Wars characters. While his original appearance made an instant impact, his return in The Clone Wars – voiced by Sam Witwer – cemented his legacy, with the character later appearing in Star Wars Rebels and his own animated series, Maul – Shadow Lord.
Over the years, Maul has taken on several different forms, and LEGO fan designer SecondBricks has recreated one of his most memorable appearances using only pieces from 75411 Darth Maul Mech.
Following his defeat at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Maul’s hatred for the Jedi kept him alive. After being left stranded and broken in half, he used scrap metal to create a huge set of mechanical spider legs, allowing him to crawl and eventually walk again.
This 141-piece fan-designed build recreates that iconic look, with four articulated legs supporting Maul as he sits on top of the creation. The best part is that it can be made using just one copy of 75411 Darth Maul Mech, which costs £12.99 / $14.99 / €14.99, while the building instructions are available on Rebrickable for just €1.50.
That means you can create a unique Darth Maul display model for less than £15 – recreating a version of the Sith Lord that the LEGO Group is unlikely to ever officially release. Although a smaller version of this design appeared in LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales, SecondBricks’ build takes the concept further with a much larger model and a far more spider-like appearance.
