LEGO Harry Potter 76476 The Ministry of Magic Collectors’ Edition is missing a few key minifigures already available in other sets – so here’s where to find them.
76476 The Ministry of Magic Collectors’ Edition includes a who’s-who of Wizarding World characters, assembled in the spirit of an amnesiac watching Order of the Phoenix on a loop. You’ve got a handful of main characters, a couple of deep cuts, one or two random inclusions and – crucially – a bunch of puzzling omissions.
Fortunately, some of the characters you might want to see in such a set have already been produced at some point in the past eight years, so whether you have an extensive Harry Potter collection already or are willing to turn to the aftermarket, you can fill in a few of those gaps yourself. Here’s how to lay your hands on those missing minifigures…
Cornelius Fudge
For reasons known only to the bean counters at the LEGO Group, this ultimate Ministry of Magic doesn’t include the actual Minister for Magic. Go figure. Thankfully, Cornelius Fudge has appeared twice before in LEGO Harry Potter sets, first in 75947 Hagrid’s Hut: Buckbeak’s Rescue and then again in last year’s 76457 Hogsmeade Village Collectors’ Edition. The former is the only one with printed legs, and it’s also much cheaper on the aftermarket.
Pius Thicknesse
76476 The Ministry of Magic Collectors’ Edition is based primarily on the Order of the Phoenix, so any relevant characters from the Deathly Hallows are absent here. But if you want to add them in yourself, most of them are already available thanks to the 2022 playset 76403 The Ministry of Magic, including puppet Minister for Magic Pius Thicknesse. He’s really cheap on BrickLink, too – expect to pay about £1.50.
Bellatrix Lestrange
Maybe the most confusing omission from 76476 The Ministry of Magic Collectors’ Edition is Bellatrix Lestrange, a character the LEGO Group is always keen to include in sets and who is absolutely relevant to the Order of the Phoenix. We’ve got Sirius Black and the veil in the Department of Mysteries, but not the minifigure that sends him through it. Weird.
Anyway, there are plenty of different Bellatrix minifigures available in other retired sets. You’ll find her with printed legs in 76453 Malfoy Manor; with a printed dress piece in 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition; and with dual-moulded arms in 76415 The Battle of Hogwarts. Combining the latter two will give you the most detailed version, but also at the biggest cost.
Remus Lupin
Most of the members of the Order of the Phoenix who arrive at the Ministry of Magic to save Harry and the gang are present and correct in 76476 The Ministry of Magic Collectors’ Edition, including Mad-Eye Moody, Nymphadora Tonks and Kingsley Shacklebolt. But Remus Lupin doesn’t make the cut, so you’ll need to add him in from elsewhere – specifically 76405 Hogwarts Express Collectors’ Edition, if you want the closest outfit choice.
We’ve never actually had a minifigure of Lupin based specifically on Order of the Phoenix, so the brown jacket and striped shirt are as good as it gets right now. It’s a shame a new version of Lupin wasn’t included from the off really, especially given he has a pivotal moment holding Harry back after Sirius disappears through the veil.
Albert Runcorn, Reg Cattermole and Mafalda Hopkirk
Back to the Deathly Hallows now, for the characters involved in Harry, Ron and Hermione’s infiltration of the Ministry of Magic. Unsurprisingly, you’ll find all three of the staff members they impersonated – Albert Runcorn, Reg Cattermole and Mafalda Hopkirk – in 76403 The Ministry of Magic, which is based specifically on the Deathly Hallows. If you really want to round out the cast, Mary Cattermole can also be found in the 2022 playset.
Corban Yaxley
Another high-profile Death Eater who appeared in the Ministry of Magic in the Deathly Hallows, Corban Yaxley’s only minifigure so far can be found in – you guessed it – 76403 The Ministry of Magic. Honestly, that set is so cheap on the aftermarket that you might as well just pick up the entire thing for its minifigures alone, if nothing else.
Dementors
Finally, if you want to dress up 76476 The Ministry of Magic Collectors’ Edition for its Deathly Hallows scenes, you’re going to need a few Dementors roaming about the place. If you’ve been collecting LEGO Harry Potter sets for a while, you’ll probably have some of these from 75495 Expecto Patronum, 75955 Hogwarts Express, 76463 Hogwarts Castle: Hospital Wing and so on.
But if you need some (or more), set your sights on this summer’s 76475 Forbidden Forest: Expecto Patronum, which includes two in a relatively cheap set.
There are plenty more characters missing from 76476 The Ministry of Magic Collectors’ Edition, but which have never been seen before in LEGO – or don’t have outfits that are even a close match for their costumes in their Ministry of Magic scenes. We’ll dive into those in a separate feature soon…
