LEGO Ideas’ upcoming Wallace & Gromit project is rumoured to be the same size as proposed, unlike many recent models, which have undergone more drastic changes.

Rumour has it that the upcoming LEGO Ideas Wallace & Gromit set, based on Pidelium’s design, will feature 1,038 elements for $99.99 and launch on October 1. That information remains rumoured for now, but it’s realistic when you consider that the original proposal was for a challenge with a maximum of 1,000 elements.

The exact piece count for Pidelium’s model has never been shared, but we know that it is under 1,000 elements. Should the new rumoured details be accurate, this would mean that the model has grown by at least 38 elements. What changes this would mean to the original model, if any, are unknown.

However, it’s a sign that the highly anticipated Wallace & Gromit model won’t undergo many changes from pitch to product. At the very least, we can predict far fewer changes than other recent buildable figures in LEGO Ideas, including 21372 La Catrina. The Day of the Dead build has been approximately halved in size, and likely in piece count.

21370 E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial similarly had 2,990 elements in its fan design but has 1,226 pieces in the final model. Some have also grown to be much larger, such as 21361 Gremlins: Gizmo, growing from 400 elements to 1,125 pieces in the set.

It appears that Wallace & Gromit is highly unlikely to meet the same fate, though. Smaller additions are entirely possible within the rumoured piece count relative to the original challenge’s rules, but nothing major.

The upcoming LEGO Ideas Wallace & Gromit set is rumoured to have 1,038 elements for $99.99 and launch on October 1. It would join a stacked line-up of fan-inspired models in LEGO Ideas this year, but nothing has been announced for the Aardman model yet.
